USING INFORMAL AND CREATIVE WRITING TO ENGAGE STUDENTS

Informal and creative writing assignments (versus formal evaluative) to engage meaningful classroom conversation, projects, and experiences with subject matter will be presented.

Using Arthur Danto as a jumping off point about his experience with Andy Warhol’s Brillo Box: “It entered my life and thought and transformed them both. The encounter with the Brillo Box turned me into a philosopher of art.” These sessions will give us all tools for whatever we are teaching—Dance, Liberal Arts, Music, Film, Design, Visual Arts and Crafts—to have our students experience the classroom and content as a meaningful encounter.
