P & D, Pattern and Decoration is also know as The New Decorativness. It was an ideal vison of the the american art for the 70's. It contributes to the 70s art movement because its a movement itself. The movement was championed by the owner of the Holly Soloman gallary. This was the first and last art movement that was during the postmodern era. In pattern and Decoration everyone knew eachother, it was like a big giant family. There was varieties of art work from aisa, africa, and the middle east.

When you think of tessellation you just think of drawing that being made into a pattern but in the real word it happens to. This photo shows a bunch of seals laying down but in a pattern to fit in between eachother to keep warm. Tessellation theres not suppose to be any gaps and this is a perfect example.... NO GAPS.

Dogon People

 

The Dogon culture has been known for its dramatic art, and tribal customs. There are about 400,000 to 800,000 people that are in this cilvilzation. Theya re located central plateau region of Mali in Africa dance and celebrat a star the is invisable to the naked eye. Everyone thought this cilvilzation was trying to contacted aliens.

Jim Patterson- Underwater Reef Photography

1)   Jim Patterson takes pictures of nature under water. I find this picture very unique of the angle and how blue it looks. Underwater photography must be hard but I find it very interesting how the light from the surface shines done on the reef and makes it look like trees.
